I took Transtar from Genting to Singapore on 23rd Nov 2011 together with other members of my family on PC 77Z. The driver whilst driving at AYE and also opposite Marina Bay Sands started smoking. As it was getting very stuffy and smoky I personally went downstairs to check and saw the driver in white polo tee shirt smoking away. Even that did not stopped him from smoking.

We arrived Lavendar MRT at about 6:45pm and even tried calling 62929009 three times but no one picked my call.

An aircon coach with a sign "no smoking" and yet their driver was puffing away whilst driving.

I sent an email to Transtar on 24 Nov and finally on 1 Dec Andy Lai from Transtar replied to my email asking me to call him on his mobile.
His first question when I contacted him was "what is it about huh? I asked if he read my email and he said no lah not yet too busy.

I have taken Transtar coaches to Genting always and this is the first time that I have encountered this issue. However, it is the so called PR person who makes me fedup with his attitude.

I did not hear from Transtar after that call with Andy.

This is Transtar for you.

We just used the Transtar Solitaire bus from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore. Let me give you an honest review of their service.
12/21/2011

This is the most luxurious that I ever sat on. The seat has everyhting which makes the passenger comfortable. It is the same as the first class seat on the airplane. You can watch movies, music and etc... It has a back massage.
The bus provided breakfast, more like a lunch, and drinks. The staff was very polite and helpful. My father in law could not walk long distances and she was able to speak to the custom people in Singapore as well as Malaysia so he could stay back on the bus.
The bus driver is Chinese and he has one helper sitting next to him. I assume this person will alternate with the driver ast the drive takes about 5-6 hours to reach the last stop in Singapore.
My mother in law needs to use the restroom quite often and they were able to accommodate her needs. The bus would normally stopped once, but they stopped twice for her.

The condition of the bus is quite new. It is very nice inside. By the way, they provide one blanket as well.

The only weird thing is that they did not drop us at the stop station due to the traffic jam. However, they stopped at a nearby so all of us can get off. Overall, this is a superd service.

WORST! Transtar- LOUSY!!
We had to keep changing bus to bus from bad bus to worst bus.
keep LOADING AND UNLOADING luggage to so many buses.
transfer so many times

The buses is in poor condition, old, tattered and torn,
windscreen cracked.
Broken seat.

toliet break at bad single toliet. with only one choked toliet cubicle with lots of wc floating on the floor and toilet bowl.

the culprits Agencies involved also include
Newsia travel and BANANA guesthouse and banana travel agency
Newsia Tours & Travel (Pg) Sdn Bhd (Komtar) old, rundown office
1st Floor, Arked Ria 1 Komtar, Jln Penang, 10000 Georgetown, Pulau Pinang
Tel: 04-2615558
Banana Travel & Tours Sdn Bhd (790160H)
Banana New Guest House (PG 0236210-K)

All the above middlemen are in working to cheat tourists:
Before and during the booking period , I repeated questions them the exact location of arrival in Singapore.
Cheated us

AND all its rude and dishonest bad staff.
promising penang to singapore coach
but abandon us at JB.
The driver says his bus has no licence/TAX to travel to Singapore at all.
we have to come back on our own. at our own cost.
we paid RM65, a premium price of extra RM5, higher than the rest of the passengers in the SAME bus and all the normal agencies.

Sat on Premium Coach on both legs of the journey and the experience was average. Firstly, I would like to give a piece of advice to Transtar not to hire that many useless Coach Attendant on board the coaches as they make passengers FEEL AT UNEASE!! There were 3 coach attendant which accompanied us on the trip to Genting, however none provided support nor service. They just walk up and down during the whole trip trying to look helpful but there was really nothing to do! Secondly, if there were a choice for you to choose between single deck and double deck bus, choose the single deck ones!!! Cause on me and family were travelling up the hill to genting, the bus we took ( which was a double one ) have difficulties manoeuvring and was slow too. it also causes me to suffer from a migraine when we reach. The good side on it is that the seats were new and service attendants were polite. No comments on that.

Just saw these reviews. A few weeks back we booked our ticket and hotel with Transtar for their latest promo with First World Hotel and so far the person that accomodated us was very patient and helpful considering we went at lavender branch already quite late. We hope that all these comments were taken constructively and we expect to have a smooth travel as we are travelling with a number of kids and aunties. Though we took a promotion, a customer will still expect the good standard in bus cleanliness, safety and accomodating service throughout the trip and hotel stay. Looking forward to a pleasant trip with Transtravel.

I booked three tickets from Singapore to KL for my mum on 24 May 2011 at 2.30pm. Thru my past experience with Transtar, they will stop at least two time for toilet break, but this time they didn't. The worst thing is the drivers and the attendant even refused to request from my mum to stop for her and the kid go for the toilet. They all drawn up the curtain and chit chat, don't respond to others. This is very bad service.

I went to book for 2 nights to Genting at RegentStar at Lavender MRT station.
Their Customer Service Officer, Ms Ma's service was lousy. Guess what, when I feedback her service to the management, her Senior Sales Manager, Molly's service was even worst. This is the first and the last time I am using their service, no matter how cheap they can be. I will use five star or grass land in future.

My prefered coach is always transtar, their onboard attendants/drivers are good. I must admit that some younger travel consultants or "part time" consultants service are bad. However, de senior consultants/executive are professional. As a traveller, we must be understanding on some unforseen road condition which cause delay or vehicle breakdown & require transfer in JB. For such cases, i feel that company should compensate the customer. eg: some snacks for delay? refund of money for downgrade of coach? Just some suggestion.... which i hope it will improve the services.

I booked transtar coach to Genting and back from Natas fair in February 2010. I booked a premium class to Genting as they do not have 1st class for night trip, and solitaire class on my journey back. On that day, we were given a coach of another class. This coach is just like those you can take from the Larkin coach terminal in JB. Massage chair totally dead, certain features of the electronic chair worked only after you keep pressing and banging at the button a couple of times. On my way back, its WORST!!!!
Its supposed to be their best coach, solitaire. When I boarded the coach a Highlands Hotel at Genting, I felt the coach was stuffy as the aircon was very weak, blowing normal air instead of cool air. I thought maybe the coach was not moving, hopefully the aircon will be better after it moved out. When we stopped at Batu Cave for shopping of local products, I told the lady attendant that the aircon is not blowing cool air but normal air from a fan. She told me the aircon is a bit weak and it should be better after the coach reach the highway. But after more than 2½ hours, most of the other passengers on the upper deck were fanning themselves with whatever they can find. Again I complained to the lady attendant and told her that I was sweating. Her reply was \\\\\\\"the aircon will be cooler after the sunset\\\\\\\" My god, by sunset, its almost three quarter of the journey gone. Worse still, she kept asking me if I want some WARM water to drink. I didnt really what to react at that time.
I went to their Lavendar MRT office to complain after the trip about the premium coach without massage and certain features not working, so diferent from their advertisements. A lady staff(around early 40)told us in a very arrogant and Ah Lian tone in mandarin \\\\\\\"or, massage chair, mei yu bao hor, mei yu guarantee hor...\\\\\\\" I really felt like giving her a smack on her bloody face.

28th August, 2009 – Noon, I received a mailer from Transtar Travel and I called up to ask before I convince my friend, Irene to go down to book for our Genting trip as we do not want to waste our time. I told them my departure date is on 25th September, 2009 (Friday) and we will be staying for ONE night only (the promotion is 3 days 2 nights offer), which means we will be heading back on 27th September, 2009 Sunday morning. I did even emphasize that it’s a weekend, because most promotion doesn’t include weekends. Therefore, I re-confirm with the person I spoke to and the person said ‘yes, the promotion is valid’. Obviously, stupidly enough I didn’t get the name of that person.
29th August, 2009 – 11:30am, Irene and I head down to Lavender to book our trip to Genting. I went there with enthusiasm and approached the first person we saw. I told them I am coming for the promotion I saw yesterday and they said they have no such promotion on weekends. Out of my surprise, I told them the phone call I did the day before and they simply mention he didn’t know anything about that. He passed me their head-quarter phone number and their promotion pamphlet and without making things difficult for him. I decided to call their head quarter. I spoke to a lady by the name of Jolene. (I’ve learnt my lesson and asked for their names) By no other choices, I request to speak to their manager. She told me their manager is not on duty on weekend. I hung up and approach the next person who is available. She told me nothing can be done and told me if I still wish to go on with booking a trip on weekends it can be done and that would cost me SGD$140.00. I told her, ‘If I would want a deal, we would have booked with another Agency which is much more cheaper and why should we travel all the way down and not able to have the promotion, the best part is, after-all it’s what you have promised.’ They simply put it off by saying the phone-call should be picked up by a new staff they have there. I was so shocked by that assumption! What they meant is they did not train their staff well before putting them on the phone? They do not even know well enough what they are selling? I’m totally amazed. Disappointedly, I ask for the agent name and she said she is Agnes. I asked of Agnes to locate their manager and ask her to speak to me now. She refused by saying she can’t be contacted by mobile phone because she is at the Natas Travel Fair. I was again surprised by her saying she is un-contactable through mobile phone as she is not oversea! My friend, Irene reminded them that they didn’t even tried to call and simply told us she can’t be contacted. Agnes, then picked up the phone unwillingly and pressed a few numbers and after a few second she hung up and say in a very “stuck-up” manner, ‘See, I told you she won’t pick up her phone. I can’t do anything right now.’ In mandarin, and even quoted that I’m“无理取闹”, and to translate in English it means “creating a scene without a reason”. With that kind of attitude, my patience has reached its limits. I told her to give me the name of their manager and his/her mobile phone number and I’ll call her myself. She says no, she can’t do that because it’s a private line and her name is Molly. I told her, ‘Fine. Please ask your manager to call me 12pm on Monday.’ She replied, ‘I simply can’t make her to call you at that time.’ But I told her, ‘You didn’t make her, I asked you to pass the message.’ Finally, she said, ‘Okay.’
She is a Malaysian and her attitude is simply unacceptable! The cocky way that she speaks and even quoted such a rude thing to their potential customer, I’m glad that I did not sign up for my trip. I did a search online after that through my phone and I am even surer that I’m lucky enough that I didn’t book my trip from them because it will definitely be such a disaster!

Friends, I went to Genting from 8-10 Aug 09 and I encounter such a bad experience. I am a handicap and when I told the person-in-charge at Lavender MRT branch that I have a total of 4 pax
and I need a room that can accomodate us.A room with bathroom and toilet together as I have only 1 leg; but the lady book only 1 room. for us with only 2 single beds. The hotel staff told us that the agent only book 1 room and after much explaination, they offer us a so-call deluxe room with only 2 single
beds. My husband falled down from the bed husting his head. when I come back
to S\'pore and called to their company, the lady by name of Agnes said that I must request for a big room. This is only an excuse as I have told her and now I have only 1 room for 4 of us. I felt that I been cheated by the travel agent.

Strongly agree with the guys here that complained their coach from Singapore to Genting is definitely a standard drop. For SG to Genting, they have changed the five stars coach to so called better solitare coach. There are so many ants on the coach, the whole trip we are killing the ants..

They also sub-con some of the trips to consodium (can't remember the spelling)which is a bad move because consodium service sucks.

my experience with this coach company was, the DVD never change as i travel very often on the first class from singapore to KL. The service was good when first started this service, as now have drop, the management should have do something now to upgrade the service as more and more low budget airline are chheaper to fly from singapore to KL.
anyhow , the staff needs to brain storming ..

I was Sexually assaulted while sleeping on a transtar travel bus from Singapore by the bus driver. When I ran out of the bus I noticed that he had also taken my cell phone.
I called the Transtar office many times to complain and to get help. They never did anything, they never even called me back.

Please stay away from this bus company they are criminals and do not care at all for your safety.

Bad experience - paid for coach to return to Singapore (part of the travel package) but they didn't book any! We paid S$128 for the whole package which included return coach + hotel. Everything went well until the last day when we did not get our coach back to Singapore! There were no seats for all 7 of us, apparently TRANSTAR SINGAPORE - the tour company where we booked our travel package did not arrange for any return coach for us! They were also not contactable and the best alternative the subsidary in Penang could offer us was a coach to Johor Bahru (JB) one hour later and they told us to find our own transport from JB to Singapore. We had to quarrel with them until they provided a van to drive us from JB to Singapore (Lavender MRT station, the location initially planned).

So make sure you re-confirm ALL your pre-arranged transport plans (and maybe hotels too) with TRANSTAR when you buy any travel packages from Transtar (http://www.transtar.com.sg/)! Buyers beware!
