I don't agree totally with all the bad comments of Jun Air. Me and my wife went on two trips one after another, first to Jiuzhaigou(16.3.11 to 24.3.11). The journey although was treacherous, the tour guide Xiao Yang is very caring and knowledgable. We feel safe with him and the driver Xiao Shee. It was well worth trip except foodwise is mediocre. We paid for a special herbal lunch of S$35 each but is not fantastic. I wish to commend Yang Wei Qiang for his effort. Next we went on a Korea/Shanghai tour from 2.4.11 to 10.4.11. It was quite pleasant all the way. But We paid $100 more each than those who went to Natas. They also have more gifts. Not fair. The tour guide is not too bad, Xiao Hu ,though korean,is fluent in chinese but his assistant, xiao yang,a student, is a darling to us. He managed all the baggages. The bus driver at the jeju island is moody and not good driver. The extra meals of horse meat and black pig is ripping off our money. It is not worth it. The shanghai arrangement on last day before air port is really a surprise and we are appreciative of Jun air's arrangement. There is no pressure to buy things and we even got a bonus of bullet train ride. The tour guides, both of them were gentlemen and very professional .I commend Jun Air and their travel counterparts for their effort. But those extras maybe be reduced in price as some travellers are not rich and they are shy not to participate in it. It cause unhappiness within travellers. Hope Jun Air can improve on these and we will join Jun Air again .

Just why you may ask, well you may wish to sell a product or service and target webmasters or simply just increase the amount of backlinks your website has that will improve your Google rankins which will then bring your website much more visitors and cash. Hi David,

I also face the same problem with you. Booked a Hokkaido trip of 2 with them, and now i request to cancel the trip due to Japan nuclear radiation risk. and they just keep push us to other package which we don't like.

I was told on the phone $300 will be forfeited, and after visit their office, they said $350 will be forfeited. Really ridiculous!!

I've wrote to S'pore travel board to make complaint? Are you taking any action? Any result?

I have booked Taiwen Package. When I saw long negative comments, I was shocked. Luckily my fri is working in Jun-Air. After I see see, look look, I saw some tours (Focal, Dynastary, etc) are also in worst list. I had great time with them for different location package, but I saw people complaing. I guess, more are concerned with tour guide rather than company. If tour guide is good, ur trip will be fantastics. So rest your mind on luck and stop worrying. Cheer!!!!

8DAY TAIWAN TRIP ON NOV 2010 WITH JUN-AIR. signed up with jun-air during the NATAS-SEPT2010 due to ASA was fully booked for Nov2010. after signed, we get to know this website & saw many complaint to Jun-Air... faint! worry! so brought this matter to NATAS & Jun-Air manager-Sharon was confirmed this trip. Jun-Air admin-Angeline was gd service. thanks for her tips/info.
this trip taiwanese tour guide-XiaoLeow was very gd! helpful & friendly... conclusion, we're satisfied with this taiwan trip. next will go to shanghai with Jun-Air as this package was free when we signed the taiwan trip but we need buy own self the ticket only. any comment?? i read a lot of comment abt to china trip. hope we wouldnt disappointed with Jun-Air.

I read this forum after signing up with Junair and got very very worried. Luckily the Taiwan trip itself is not too bad coz it was managed by their Taiwan agent....just a lot of travelling on the road and not enough time for sight-seeing, which is quite typical for Taiwan tour bah.

But would I book with Junair again....answer is NO coz their admin is not professional (e.g. did not give us all our air-tickets...luckily we discover before hand) and what they mentioned is not always true (e.g. 5 star hotel is more a 3.5 star hotel).
iUnspoken wrote on 20 December 2010
Terrible agent. Worst tour ever. 9D Sichuan spent 50% travelling by bus on mountain sides with many rockslides. dangerous. most jialat one is the trip to this town called danba. complete waste of time. spent 6 hours travel there to stay in a hotel then another 6 hours to get out of there to the next destination. xiling snow mountain only opens on 18dec but wasn't informed, so in the end went up to stare at snow.

the china-side counterpart was not bad, he tried to meet our needs and stuff. but face it, they're limited to the amount of money they're paid from jun-air. in the end, all the food we get were 80% veg. about 19% fats and 1% lean meat. our tour group bought a whole set mean for 10pax with 1 salmon fish, 1 whole chicken and 3 side veg dishes, total cost less than $90. think about that.

only good part about this tour agency, this staff called Angeline. fantastic tips from her. too bad she's working in the wrong company.

this tour i just came back from was not cheap. $1.9k for 9D, and considering the type of food and places that we went to, not worth at all. according to the china-side counterpart, they make a hell lot from us. china-side didn't get much. and mind you, the $1.9k doesn't include the entrance fees for the tourist attractions. that'll set you back another nearly RMB700 on the spot in china itself.

for those who just went on the 5/7/9D hailouguo sichuan tour. Good luck. The warmest thing you'll experience is your ass on the bus seat.

My trip to Taiwan was not with Jun-Air. Apologies. It was with another agent.
chris wrote on 8 December 2010
I have been on their Taiwan 8 days and Korean tours. All round island.

In 2008, I went on their Taiwan tour. I would say this is probably one of the best tours I had in my life. FYI, I am a well-travelled person, having lived in and travelled to at least a third of the world.
This accolade can\'t be given to the agency entirely, but it happened that the Taiwanese are nice, very hospitable people. Everything was rather smooth-going despite an unfortunate fire which the tour bus caught whilst on the highway. Tour guide was tactful and immediately offered a make-up sumptuous dinner for the hour delay. I rate this above Korea. This is another value for money tour all in for less than $1K travelling in December. With 3 highways tunnelling through the mountains, each running the length of Msia, Taiwan is impressive in terms of development, etc. .. but for the China problem which they have since or will resolve.

In 2009, I went on their Korea tour with Shanghai stopover. Guess this stopover is by airline since travel agreement requires that flights go direct back to original country of airline.

No doubt, Shanghai side was just shopping and fleecing...so you are advised not to buy from them as it is all conducted by local tour agent, as usual. Of particular significance is one fake Beijing TongRen Tang outlet which is not registered whose address cannot be found in any directory. Do not confuse with the real genuine TongRen Tang which is the national clinic.

Since the tour was to Korea, this review will be about Korea.

Overall, I rate it as good value for money. Tour was conducted by a Chinese Korean lady. Itineraries and route was almost all what I wanted - going round the whole peninsula by rail, road and air. I think compared to most other Korean tours, this was probably the best then.
Due to the bad publicity here (not sure if it is by rivals or actual travellers), I almost cancelled my tour too when I booked it then. But all turned out ok.
Korea side has a few rip-offs : Chinese shop selling some local korean herbs; cosmetics and snow skiing. Sun visors are not necessary.
Accommodation, food, etc are all ok - sometimes food not as good but still ok.

As I don\'t fancy all the temples and gardens, some improvements could be made to more land walks in the city. Why? Being jetted around on the bus from point A to B left me with no impression of when a town or city is reached.

From the looks of things, it seems they may have an overbooking problem with no assurance of confirmed seats IF the booking is done too late. This also depends on their block booking arrangements and greediness to accept bookings.
China Southern is famous for delayed flights in Shanghai but luckily, it didn\'t happen this time when I was there.
We did not experience sub-standard hotels, itinerary differences, etc. fortunately.
Pay more, follow those actors and actresses and you are likely to get ripped off. Sure get better service!

I dun recommend you ppl to join any of their tour as their admin sucks. If you are lucky, you may get services provided by their overseas counterpart BUT not them. Joined the trip to sightsee the 3 gorges and Zhangjiajie. The itinery at time of payment and briefing are very much DIFFERENT. The cabin in the cruise was filthy with cockroaches crawling around, the toilets and bedheets were dirty too. My mum had rashes on the part of her arm she rested on the bed. We werent given any drinks during meals. Only had one small bottle of mineral water each per day. As for toilet paper, a small roll was given to each of us, which was totally inadequate. The tour guide there SUCKS!. We were told to rest and left us alone most of the time. The other tour guide at Zhangjiajie was a $$$ sucker.
Many places were left out of the altered itinery. Reason given - NOT ENOUGH TIME! We were brought round to places (not in itinery) and instructed to remain for 40 mins in each place where we are encouraged to spent otherwise he could not collect enough ???$$$. Hotels were 3 star quality instead of 4 star. The whole bus load of us were
TERRIBLY DISSAPPOINTED!!! in Jun-Air. Bad expereince aor all. Will NEVER travel or encourage anyone to use this travel agency.
Henry wrote on 30 May 2010
I am very disappointed with the services provided during my trip to China. The 4 stars \"Fun Tian\" were terrible as the air-condition was with air only. The toilet flushing system was not automatic and have to the handle for about a minute to get it flushed. There were also no bottle drink provided daily. No air-con in the van while transporting us to all places of interest. As for the compulsory payment for the additional tour was not worth it as most of places that were visited were without entrance fee.
Jun-Air - 2 stars rated

Worst service rendered by the travel agent officer, Teresa (china lady)
We bought the Korea tour pkg from the NATAS fair, Teresa told us to join the confirmed tour group that departs on the 31st of Mar 10 midnight and we even confirmed with her is 1Apr10 early morning. She told us this will be a 10days tour, 7days in Korea and 3days in Shanghai (FREE 3days Shanghai if fly by MU ). Optional tour to visit the mini expo in Suzhou. When closer to the departure date, another officer called us up and said the tour is only 8days (3days Shanghai then 3rd day fly from Shanghai to Korea)! The officer also confirmed we got the wrong CONCEPT instead of wrong info from her colleague, Teresa. Later we learnt from our tour members, most of them had the same wrong info from the same person, Teresa. And the rest was forced to change their departure date either to delay a few days later or bring forward to 31Mar10. Worst part is, the confirmed flight was not departing on 31Mar10 midnight but afternoon 1630hrs. Upon enquiring the tour package, I already make clear to Teresa that I can not take leave in March but because of her mistake, I had to take half day leave on the 31Mar10. As I am holding Malaysia passport so I paid for the visa application. The officer kept calling me to check if anybody calls me for China visa collection and when I said I didn’t receive any confirmation on this, they told me to wait. 1 week before the departure, the officer called me again to confirm and ask if I did bring down my original passport for visa application. I was so shock as I was not told to bring down the original passport at all! Warren the supervisor was nice to arrange a man to collect my passport from my working place to apply the visa else I may have stuck at the China emigration. The korea tour overall is nice but the Shanghai tour is really sucks. Especially FREE lunch at the china Tong Ren Tang. The chinese physicians will provide FREE check up for you but if you do not buy any product from them, they will say something nasty to you or show black face immediately. Things there are not cheap, can be thousand of Singapore dollar so please do not get conned by this group of people. Although they provide free feet spa, I will strongly suggest you do not even step in, you can request to stay outside or idle somewhere near to the Tong Ren Tang. Food in Shanghai also sucks, nothing cheap there. Bring you here and there to buy things and is really expensive. Nothing is FREE!

Hi worried and lost, can't comment on their Taiwan tour as there have not been very +ve. Just don't pay the balance amount until they can show you proof of their flight booking (must ask them for a copy with your name on it). If they request you to change departure date, just insist to stick to your original booking date and if they beg you to change giving you all the excuses, then insist on cash refund and threaten to bring up to CASE if they dun. Don't be fooled by them if they say they can only refund by travel vouchers 'cause they paid them in CASH. I enjoy their Korea trip 'cause their Korea partner very professional and they also commented their counterpart admin sucks!! I'll not travel with them any more despite having some vouchers to go for free with them. Best of luck to you.

Hi yr supporter,
I've tried hairy crabs in HK before and they are much bigger and meatier. Another group who have came earlier tried it at another restaurant also commented that our crabs were smaller than tose they ate at another restaurant. All the other tour members share the same sentiments and it's really really very small. My colleague who has just came back from Shanghai before I left for my trip has highly recommended that I try it as it was big and meaty. It may not be as big as the Sri Lanka crabs but I'm rather disappointed with the size and the price paid though. I won't have opted for tat if not for the mispresentation of the young and inexperienced Shanghai guide. Fortunately we din meet the arrogrant or intimating types. The Suzhou guide was very good and have the gift of gab. We enjoyed his commentaries even though we knew he was trying hard to promote the commission based products.

Dear all,
I only got to know abt the Hokkaido saga when I was on the plane to Shanghai/Korea on 6 Dec. I've just returned from that trip and in all honesty, I would say NOT to travel with Jun Air again specially for their China tour 'cause their admin work sucks. For those who are not sure if your tickets are booked despite JA saying so, insist on having a copy of their air ticket confirmation slip which I did to have some peace of mind. Fortunately everything else went smoothly for our group of 21 paxs. Kudos to our Korean tour guide Ms Lee Yong Ai and his assistant Mr Nam. They made our trip very enjoyable and they were very professional. For the Shanghai part, no complains on the hotel and meals provided except for the hairy crabs which we felt was a ripped off of RMB 150 for 2 very small crabs which don't have much meat in it. With that amount, we could easily have bigger crabs at a coffee shop. I'm glad we came home safely with no flight delays. I would consider our group being lucky despite having to change our travel dates. Not worth taking the risk and living in fear till the trip is over. If you like their Korea itinerary, try AD travel which uses the same Korea tour agency. To those who have contributed, thanks for keeping us alert and aware of the worst to be expected.

* They are than advise to change to a china trip or change their depart date to the 20/12/09

* The problems seems like its due to the FOC Shanghai trip.
* The customer mention to the agent that they do not want to go for the Shanghai trip since the day that they book, which is on 8/10/09. Which I think the agent did not take note of.

* If I didn’t translate wrongly, the spokesman from the agency mention that the ticketing problem is due to MU air.

* And they will refund, but not the miscellaneous like winter wear…
* The customer have made a police report & have brought this case to CASE.

To everyone who have experienced false assurances, last minute trip cancellations, unacceptable excuses, no compensation and no compassion.......

Please get ready your receipts, other documents relating to your cancelled trip AND write down the sequence of events beginning from the day you made your booking till you were informed that your trip got cancelled. Please include the dates of your trip, destination, number of people, total amount paid, whether refunded, whether compensated.

ALSO, Please try to inform and gather as many others as possible.

I intend to lodge my complaint to the authorities after Christmas.

I hope for as many people as possible to join me.

I believe the authorities will pay heed to this issue when they see that there are so many people involved.

Please share your grievances. Others need to know. Thanks.

Hi all
To be fair, so far my family & co trip were using junair as our travel agency. There wasn't any problem at all. Our groups(30pxs)follow them this 4 yrs & twice in a year. This year June was Australia trip & year end was Japan & Korea. We hv just come back from Japan & now waiting to go Korea. We very satisfied the Japan tour cos meal, accommodation, tour guide & itinerary were well arranged. We never has any doubt or worry with junair before. They (senior staffs) are professional & knowledgeable to arrange whatever we request. As a organizer of the group, I hv no need to waste time going to their travel agency to book or make payment. We using phone call or fax(email) for request & booking & they also provide hm service for payment.
Keep it up Jun-Air! Although you guys hv face unforseen circumstance & complain, treat those complain as a feedback & avoid the happening in future cos from there you guys will learn the mistake. Regarding of airline problem, we feel that you guys must think a way to let the airline face & solve the problem too.
CHEER JUN-AIR!

Jun-Air seems to be having the same problems with most of their tour groups and giving the same reason - NO TICKETS. How can this happen ALL THE TIME!!

It is Jun-Air's responsibility to work out these on-going problems with the respective airlines before advertising or promoting their tours. As customers, we are led to believe by Jun-Air that once booked and paid up, our trips should be confirmed and will go on as promised (ironically, time and time again whenever we asked).

Now, according to KK (12 Dec posting), they got compensated S$550/- per pax by Jun-Air, provided they did not go to the press.

Why is Jun-Air now compensating some and not others? Have they done something WRONG??

S$550/- is certainly very little money "to keep your mouth shut". The compensation must be calculated based on the winter clothes bought, time spent running to and fro the Jun-Air office, losing our annual leave, efforts arranging domestic schedules, additional cost incurred in booking another tour from another agency at PEAK PRICES!!

Please, please, to all who have faced or are facing this nightmare. Please speak up so we know who you are. Please give the following details:
a. date you paid up,
b. your tour dates,
c. destination(s),
d. when were you informed your trip was cancelled,
e. whether refunded,
f. whether compensated
g. whether you have reported to the authorities and
h. your feeling about this nightmare

I am frustrated because I feel victimised and exploited. I've lost so much money (the bulk for having to pay so much more to secure another tour) and incurring the wrath of my family for being stupid in choosing Jun-Air and resulting in so much frustration and anxiety to my family because of the lies and last minute cancellation. I will seek the relevant authorities to look into all this to seek redress.

Your inputs will help build a case to present to the authorities. Please come forward. Thanks

May I ask everyone who reads these comments to be come forward and let us know IF YOU HAD PAID UP FOR YOUR TRIP TO JUN-AIR MONTHS IN ADVANCE and subsequently had your trips cancelled, got refunded but not compensated for your loss in time, effort, extra costs in booking another tour, purchases, etc

I would like to co-ordinate a concerted effort for all "victims" to meet at CASE office in January 2010 to lodge an official complaint and to seek redress for our losses.

Please come forward.

Hi Frederick, my depart date to 8D Hokkaido is 20 dec i\'m not going for the shanghai trip. But they told me everything is confirm for the Hokkaido trip since the day i book at NATAS. I went down last weekend 5/12, to check on the status, they assured me that the trip was firm. I\'m very worried, but since they say its confirm, I think I\'m stuck with it. Cos if I\'m the one that wants to cancel, I\'ll have to pay a penalty if i\'m not wrong. So have to wait for them to call the shot to cancel it. Now I only pray that they will cancel it and give me a full refund rather than when i reach there and the whole trip is messed up!

Its so fustrating that we gotta worry so much for a holiday, rather than to look forward to it. Haiz...

Hello everyone. This is my 2nd posting. The more I read the reviews, the more it becomes apparent that this travel agency is not responsible, has no integrity and is out to fleece us!!

How is it possible that money paid in advance (some for up to 4 months in advance) cannot buy the tickets outright from the airline concern.

I cannot not understand why the company is always saying that tickets were not issued at the last minute, when tickets are now E-TICKETS!! Why are we (customers)paying in advance to the company to secure our seats on flight but they are not purchasing the seats for us immediately??

There are many of us who have been victimised and suffered financially. We did not stupidly ask for this to happen! We tried to play it safe and went to a NATAS registered travel agency. The fault (or GUILT/CRIME) lies with the travel agency. It is not just one victim or even a handful of victims. IT IS MANY MANY HANDFULS OF VICTIMS! Why is this travel agency getting away with their misdeeds time and time again??

My cancelled trip was supposed to be from 6 - 19 Dec 09 Hokkaido and Shanghai.

So far, I have only befriended 2 families in my tour group. They are just as disappointed and angry as I am. I hope to find the remaining 20 odd people to hear what they have to say.

To Leong Siew Loon (posting on 16 Oct 09), KT (posting on 7 Oct 09) and JL (posting on 29 Sep 09) - your grievances are very similiar to mine. Can you please elaborate more on your bad experiences. We must seek the relevant authorities to look into all this to see if we have been victimised and exploited!!

I'm one of the latest victims of this lousy travel agency. You may have read about our predicament in the Lianhe Zhao Bao yesterday (6 Dec 09). My group were suppose to depart yesterday!! The worst off is a poor couple who were to go for their much anticipated honeymoon and ended up zilch! The poor chap went personally to the office on Thursday to ask for trip confirmation and was told that the company was just waiting for the tickets to be delivered before they called for the pre-trip briefing on Friday. On Friday, this poor chap and his wife were told that there were no tickets available! The best part is that we all paid in advance 3-4 months.......and the company did not purchase the tickets at all?

WONDER WHY WE PAID FOR OUR TICKETS 3 MONTHS AGO BUT THEY DID NOT BUY OUR TICKETS??

Jun-Air did refund me the full amount BUT why was my money sitting idol with them for 3 months??

It's easy for Jun-Air to give a refund but I suffered so much losses -
a. annual leave
b. buying winter clothes
c. arranging accomodation for my pets
d. rescheduling domestic arrangements
e. running around to book a trip from another company and having to pay alot alot extra for it...app. S$1,500/- extra per pax to be exact.

I heard there was a group who were stranded at the airport recently. Please surface your bad experiences. I am trying to find out exactly (if possible) how many victims are there.

I feel manipulated and victimised.

the nightmare was not just during the holiday but it started after the booking was made...
i am too tired to recall all the unpleasant things that happened between me and the very lousy Jun-Air now but i really wish to advise all fellow travelers if possible please join all other travel agencies that are available in S'pore...
by the way, another advise from me is you SHOULD avoid any travel agency that fly with CHINA EASTERN AIRLINES...

What nonsense since tickets are in electronic form nowadays and shouldn't be an issue as she has confirmed with us upteem times that the tickets are confirmed after she she requested us to change our departure date once. She saif=d that our group consists of 21 paxs and I hope our group will co-operate to stand up for our rights.

Ever consider calling up Wan Bao (I'm sure they will be happy to pick up the news) to do some free broadcasting? That way, the impact will be bigger and more direct.

My family of four of 2 adults and 2 children just returned from a 9-day Korea/Shanghai trip and flew with China Eastern Airlines (MU). Our stress with Jun Air started way before the trip even began. Please bear with the long posting. We had to let off some steam and we don’t have the time to go to Small Claim Court. This is one avenue we want to warn potential customers about bad service from Jun Air and the internet is a powerful tool. Our regret was that we discovered this forum only one day before departure.

1. Before Departure

We enquired around and finally booked with Jun Air because they have confirmed departure on the dates we wanted and the itinerary looked interesting and the length of tour was right for us. Then the unpleasant encounters began.

Two weeks after we booked Jun Air called to say the trip was cancelled as a group has pulled out to take the Asiana (OZ) package. If a trip is confirmed can Jun Air just allow cancellation? Is there no meaning to the term “confirmed departure”? We were upset because we have applied for leave and done all the necessary adjustment to our schedules to accommodate the trip. Left with wondering what recourse we could take, Jun Air called again two days later to inform the trip was now back on and we would depart one day later.

Dutifully, one month before date of departure we went to pay the balance at Jun Air. The lady in charge, Wendy Fong, wrote down the flights we were booked on and the return flight from Shanghai to Singapore was on Sunday, 23 November at 4.05pm, arriving at 8.50pm. She told us the briefing will be conducted 3-5 days before our departure date.

We waited but no one called so we visited Jun Air five days before departure date and were given the Korean itinerary and luggage tags only. The itinerary for Shanghai and the etickets were not ready. Just five days before departure and these were not even ready. Wendy told us some cock-and-bull story about her colleague being on leave and could not collect the tickets. What collection? We are talking about electronic tickets!

Finally in the afternoon ONE day before departure and after calling Wendy repeatedly did we get the Shanghai itinerary and etickets sent via email to us. Unfortunately, the dates for the itinerary in Shanghai were wrong and so was the return flight. Instead of 4.05pm flight we got a 11.55pm flight which meant arrival at 5.00am on Monday and we had to go straight to work. What kind of slip-shot service.

We called to inform Wendy of the mistakes. She said she would amend the flight for us and when we checked Galileo ViewTrip we actually saw confirmations on both flight. Wendy assured that the flight arrangements would be resolved. Not convinced we checked again on the morning of departure and ViewTrip was still reflecting two confirmations. We called her again and same excuse that she would look into it. We checked again in the afternoon, as you can imagine our lack of trust, and the earlier booking was gone leaving us with the midnight flight! We called and could not talk to Wendy anymore, she was not in, if you believe that. We spoke to another person (forgot her name) and she said Singapore cannot control this booking anymore and we would have to get Shanghai agent to help upon arrival. What a load of crab! We gave her a piece of our mind and basically the could-not-be-bothered attitude was, if you could not get the earlier flight then take the later flight as you would still get back to Singapore.

What kind of attitude is that? After you have paid you are really at their mercy.

2. During the Tour

After all the stress we were beginning to lose confidence in Jun Air’s organizational ability and wondered what mess could happen while on the trip and we were not spared.

The emphasis of the brief we received prior to trip was to tell us how much tips we had to give each day and the currencies to be paid in. No information was given with regard to matters like immigration procedures in Shanghai. The first leg was a transit stop but we had not realized we had to actually go through all the immigration procedures at Shanghai Pudong airport. Could Jun Air not brief us on this piece of crucial information?

We were told to watch out for person holding Jun Air signage upon arrival at Jeju airport and were extremely glad that a lady was holding one. Relief that finally someone was there to actually meet us. However, while in the bus the lady tour guide said there were four extra people on her tour and, guess it, the four were us. We were in the wrong group! After much communication with her office it finally became clear the group we were supposed to be with flew in via OZ and were about 30 minutes later. The group that was on the same flight connection via MU had a different itinerary. What confusion. As both groups were heading for the same destination we finally managed to off-load our luggages and caught up with the correct group. What a start to our Korean adventure!

The Korean tour guide was name Zhou (spelling?). His service was fair, he helped with the luggages and gave good commentaries during the tour. One complaint, he walked too fast and usually he would be about 5 metres ahead.

After Korea, Shanghai guide was a disappointment. He is really just a driver. Upon arrival at Pudong and meeting us, that was about the only time he helped to lug one bag. He drove us to the various destinations in silence and was not proactive in providing any information. When asked he would give monosyllabic replies and some questions he did not know the answers.

He informed us he would be collecting RMB300 as tips the first thing we boarded the bus on the first day. It was stated in itinerary to pay SGD5 per person per day so that added up to SGD60 for three days. RMB300 is more than SGD60! He wanted to collect this on the second day and in the end we stood our ground and paid him SGD60 since there was no service and we did not think he was deserving. Basically on the third day he did nothing more then to pick us up at 9pm from the hotel and did not lift his fingers to load our luggages on the bus. He could not see that I have young children struggling with luggages? He was busy flirting with the receptionist. Upon arrival, same thing, no help and all he did was wish us good journey back! For that we paid SGD20 for the day? Where is the service?

Regarding our flight back, as you can guess, the agent in Shanghai said they could not help as the controlling party was Singapore. Beside, these were Q-class tickets and could not be amended. So we got kicked back to Singapore for a solution. We got our relative in Singapore to help call Jun Air as we did not wish to incur extra cost just calling long distance to resolve this, guessing Wendy might avoid us or keep us on hold since this was the pattern before. Finally the reply from our relative was she could not get Jun Air to change our flight as it was Q-class ticket (cheap, special tickets). What a pack of lies from the very beginning. Either Wendy does not know the products she is selling or she was lying through her teeth the whole time.

It was a very stressful experience and we had never encountered a travel agent like this one in all our years of travel.

Finally, would be customers beware. DO NOT GO WITH JUN AIR. Service sucks and there is no integrity.

Isn't the taxes esp. fuel charges secured when they booked the air tickets liao. Wonder what proof to show the increase or is it just their gimmick to earn some $$. If so, then we re forever at theior mercy till we take off as they can quote a very low price to attract unknowing customers and then at the eleventh hour ask you to top up the charges. Getting more worried for my trip with them next month.

It appears that this tour agency has no remorse for cheating clients. What a disgrace to Singapore to actually have this type of company!
I booked a 7 days trip to Yunnan on 16 Sep 2009 and the staff Wan Ling asked me to pay in full for the booking. She commented that since she has received the payment, the trip will definitely be confirmed.
One month later, I confirmed with Yan Ming regarding the status of the tour and he said that it was confirmed. He even gave me the flight number and let me know that already 10 people are going. The departure is scheduled on 14 Nov 2009. As such, I bought an insurance coverage for the journey.

On 6 Nov 2009, barely a week left, I received an sms aking me to call Jun Air Travel Agency
To my horror, they said that the trip has been cancelled.

When I tried to call Wan Ling, one of Jun Air ‘s staff told me she was attending to a customer . Later when I called again, another staff told me she was on leave. Obviously, the tour agency is trying to avoid me. I asked to speak to the manager, Sharon who cannot assist me.

The next day, I contacted Wendy and told her that it is unethical to call off the trip at the last minute. Her reason was that someone in the group has cancelled the trip, thus we also have to do so. Whatever the reasons are, surely Jun Air would have forfeited the deposit of the person canceling the trip.

If the tour agency cancel our trip during the last week, they too should compensate their customers. I told Wendy my displeasure and she promised to call me back after checking with her management on how to compensate me.

Wendy did not call back until a few days later and tour agency is doing anything.

Dear Anne
No, we did not go to Boys Over Flowers filming site. We went to the filming site of ancient Korean drama series like "zhu mong", "tai wang si shen ji", "yi zhi mei".
BTW, I checked my photos, purple gem shop is Korea, not Shanghai. We went to one medical shop not two, name is "Tong Ren Tang" in Shanghai. In Neighbourhood Hotel in Shanghai, if you want to try the Chinese massage, ask for Qin Meiling, she's good.
In Jeju, if you want to buy the orange Jeju chocolates (they are nice), buy it at the small shop in the Jeju Ferry Terminal, it cost only W8,000 instead of other places at W10,000. The other chocolate that like is Ginseng chocolate. Go for the white colour one as it is nicer than the the dark choco one.

Hi Silly Me,
Just realised that the itinerary did not mention the visit to the Boys Over Flowers fliming site school though the promotional brochure say so and tat's was also why we book the tour from them. Did they bring you guys there? If not, I wld have to clarify with them.

Hi Anne
Yeah, agree with you the tips are actually quite high. But it is at least money well-spent in my case since the tour guides deliver. For Shanghai guide, I did feel slightly rip off since I knew that she made extra from the dinner which I was not told by Jun-Air and did not want...
Anyway, don\'t worry, trip should be okay. Enjoy ur holidays and I look forward to reading your feedback when you are back. Will be interesting to see if our experiences matched :-)

Hi Silly Me,

Thanks for your prompt response. The compulsory tips that is imposed is rather ex and higher than the other agencies as the tips for Korea is S$5 per day whereas China is RMB10 per day inclusive of the driver and his asst if any. We are aware about the Korea photographer selling the photos taken during the trip as this is not my 1st time to Korea. But my time wif Junair though. Your recent experience at least had put me at ease for the Korea tour though I dun have high expectations for the Shanghai trip. Well Junair claimed that there will be a shopping trip on our return leg to Shanghai in view of their change in date for our group. Let me know if it materialise when I'm back from the trip.

Anne

I forgot to answer your other questions. Yes, we were told we had to go to Shanghai first instead of Korea first. :-( On return trip, which is Seoul to Shangahi and then Singapore, no shopping trip arranged lah.

Yes we will definitely go for small claim tribunals and get it refunded. Go for it whoever is the victim and also write to STBS [STB_ta@stb.gov.sg] Let STB investigate JUN AIR and revoke their license. SUCKS!!!

Dear Anne

The tip for Shanghai is S$5 per day per pax. For Korea, it is US$5 per day per pax. Both tour guide will not expect you to give them any more than that, they will just tell you they are going to collect this amount, full-stop. I gave the Korea tour guide extra tip at the airport and she said not necessarily and didn't want to take. But I insisted and she said in Chinese "ni heng qi kuai", hahaha! There is no separate fees for drivers. There is a photographer who takes photo in Korea but he does more than taking photos. He helps with the luggages, add your kimchi, vegetables, rice etc. So all of us bought photos from him to thank him since he is not entitled to tips.
Anne wrote on 28 October 2009
Hi Silly Me, care to advise how much is the tipping rate for both countries? Did you start off with the Shanghai tour first followed by Korea? On the return trip from Seoul to S\'pore, was there a city tour to shopping trip arranged by the airline to kill the time waiting to catch the connecting flight?

This is the worst travel agency I have ever come across. DO NOT go to them even they said give u free land tour, 5* hotel...all turned out to be nightmare.

Booked their Japan trip for Nov recently. The staff said it is a confirmed tour and persuade us to buy travel insurance. So, make deposit and bgt the travel insurance. A week ago, they called and informed me that they do not have minimum number of customers so the tour is pending for confirmation. I told them it is their fault and told them to think of ways for me. They said wait until they got enough customers......What kind of attitude and service level???!!! I am going to ask for my refund and trying my luck to book elsewhere. Already applied leave and now worried that not able to book Japan trip at this time as it is very popular place during end of the year. :(

Very regretted in signing up package with them....

I promised to report on my experience with Jun-Air on 9D Shanghai/Korea trip. I made my booking at Natas Fair end Aug 09. After reading all the bad reviews, I decided I better lower my expectations so that I won’t get high blood pressure and ruin my holidays like some other earlier reviewers did.

Since I was told they will not actively call you, which turned out to be true, I took the initiative to call them. First, I was told that the date I’ve selected at the fair was not available, which was just as well since I could not make it. I then selected another date, and they promised to let me know when the trip is confirmed. Two weeks 3 days before the trip, I could not wait any longer so I called them. Was told that trip is confirmed, but there will be a change of flight schedule. We will visit Shanghai first then Korea. Instead of departing the night before, we will be departing on the next morning. I wasn’t too happy about this as it means I would have loose out half a day. One of the reasons I took their package was because they said we will be departing the night before. I decided to let it go since I figured out my protest will not make a difference but obviously, this is a method of short-changing the customers.

Next time was the pre-departure briefing which was supposed to take place 3-5 days before departure date. I called 5 days before departure date to enquire when is the briefing and was told that the lady in charge was on leave and she would likely call me the next day. She never did. Three days before departure, I called the lady in charge and she said that all customers have been informed that the briefing will be held the next day. I told her I certainly was not told so she went to check and then told me “Sorry, they forgot to inform you”. Sigh………..

At the departure briefing, was told that at Shanghai, there will be an optional tour $40. Was also told that all hotels in Korea will be five stars but I did not believe as no travel agency will do that lah.

Experience in Shanghai : Tour guide is a cheerful lady Ms Shirley Xue. Overall, I think she is a professional guide – always smiling and kept talking even though half the people were sleeping :-P However, the optional tour is S$70, which comprised of an aerobatics show, a dinner and half an visit to Xin Tian Di. She did not force us to take the optional tour, but said that programme would end at 6 pm, so for those not going, will send them to hotel after the rest had dinner. The hotel is 1.5 hours from town, so if you made your own way back by cab, it would be expensive. Most of us took the optional tour. For me, it was my first time watching a Chinese aerobatics show and I really enjoyed it. The seats were very cramped though, a bit torturing having to sit there for 1 or 1.5 hrs. But I felt that the dinner was a rip off since what we ate was nothing really special. As for Xin Tian Di, it really didn’t cost the agency anything since it was nearby and there was no entrance fee involved. Xin Tian Di is really a happening place, very much like our Boat Quay.

Shopping – I personally like “Tao Bao Cheng” but you must really bargain since the first price they quoted you can be quite ridiculous. Of course, there are those “shopping trips” – purple gem, medicine shop, “tian lu” shop (don’t trust this one. If you have to buy this, go to the ones in Taiwan better), “Tong Ji” medical shop (they would give your feet a hot tub soak follwed by half an hour foot massage and at the same time a “doctor” would take your pulse and tell you what’s wrong with your health. “Doctor” would then prescribed you some medicine and spent the rest of the time to persuade you to buy it. I noticed they spent more time on older folks since they are likely to have more health problems. Medicine they prescribed is of course not cheap and they are very persistent but not rude. You have to be more persistent than them to leave the place with your wallet intact!-P The hotel we stayed in is called Leisure hotel. The only saving grace for putting us at such a faraway hotel from town is that they have a massage parlor in hotel which I visited every night. I went for “tui na” body massage which is quite painful but feels shiok after the end of the session. However, I think it may not be advisable to do it continuous for two nights as we suffer from aches after that for a few days. :-P

Shirley collected tour guide fee for the third day even though it was just sending us to airport. I do not mind since I think she has made my stay a pretty pleasant one.

Experience in Korea : Our tour guide is none other than the sister of actress Lee Ying Ai. Just joking, but her name is Lee Yong Ai and she is such a loveable tour guide with a wicked sense of humor at times :-P As she knows the itinerary very well, there was minimum time wastage. Example in Everland, as time was limited, she brought us to the more fun ones. I enjoyed the Safari ride (tigers surround you and bears danced and walked on fours!) and the laser and fireworks show which was really spectacular (Sentosa’s Songs of the Sea no fight in comparison!-P). She made sure she covered whatever was mentioned in the itinerary. There was a sashimi dinner that she bought us to in Jeju (some meals are not provided) which was really sumptuous and value for money with more than 15 varieties of seafood. For those who cannot eat raw stuff, not to worry, there is a steamboat included. Ms Lee is the most generous tour guide I ever seen. As permissions were in season (it was lovely seeing countless bright orange permissions hanging from trees all over) when we were there, she bought a whole big bag of persimmons and even peeled the skins for us. I had four permissions over two days. She also bought a smaller version of tangerines for us as she said it tasted much better than the tangerines in the tangerines farm that we visited. She bought us tidbits to try when some of us were wondering if some of the tidbits were nice. I will always remember Ms Lee. Overall, the trip in Korea was really fun and I enjoyed every minute of it.

As for hotels in Korea, we did not stay in all five stars of course but they are pretty decent and spacious. As Korea is environment friendly, some hotels do not provide toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo and conditioner. Some of the better hotels have water dispenser machines in our rooms which save us the job of boiling water :-P

Flight experience : China Eastern sucks!!! Flight delayed for 1.5 hrs on the way to Jeju. They were so unprofessional – they made us board the bus (to go to the plane), and waited for 25 minutes (most of us standing since no room to sit), and then send us back again. The Chinese tourists who were with us kicked up a big fuss afterwards :-P Flight also delayed on return flight to Singapore for 25 minutes, and they hang a Chinese painting in the plane as “entertainment” programme :-P My seat was sinking on one side. Food sucks too, tasteless.

Lastly, thanks to all who have generously shared their experiences. I’ve benefited from the readings which helped me to feel less worry. I hope my sharing will in return help others alleviate their worries too.

Ya, my sentiments too tat happigoing is from JUN AIR judging by their command of English. There is absolutely no flight problem on 5 Dec 09 as the on line booking today indicates that there are seats available. They cld have booked the tickets with the deposits collected to secure the seats then. Isn't the ow price the selling point else why wld customers be attracted to a unknown tour operator. U mean low price means klow service too. Either they buck up their service level and make sure they adhere to the itinerary with no extra costs or risk getting more -ve feedback and boycott.

Just as reported in one of the review, they wanted us to change the travel date citing unavailabilty of aircraft seats. We checked with Misa and Zuji and they confirmed there are seats available to the same destination on my travel dates. Just wondering what tricks they are up to as they confirmed the trip is on since they have met the min. no. for the group tour and at the last update, there are already 35 paxs on our group!! We have alreday made work place arrangements and applied leave already and here thhey are ruining our plans. So Jenny, dun be surprised if they call you to ask you to change the travel dates. BTW, they have yet to give me an official reply to my earlier queries via their official email and fax. To all the others, pls share the lessons learnt from your experience with Jun-air. Regards.

Good grief! This is most unsettling! All the very bad reviews are giving me nightmares and I am seriously wondering if I should just forgo my deposit for my 6 Dec 8 Days Hokkaido trip. I even took on the offer of free 8 days Shanghai package. But I seriously can't imagine the 4 of us suffering all these 15 days!
Actually, their staff are really not professional at all. When my sister called up to enquire about the trip, she was quoted one price. Then when we went down in person to enquire, we were quoted another price; $50 more. But when we signed up, she said that since we had earlier been quoted that lower price, she'd check with her superior if we could be given this lower price. And we were. When I wanted to charge the payment to my card, I was told that I would have to pay 2 percent more. To think that I took it line and sinker and paid cash. The deposit was $2000! Recently I called up the credit card company and was told that there is no such surcharge. Perhaps I should go down and make noise while at the same time signal to their potential customers what unscrupulous agents they are.

Oops, I've paid for the 8D Korea/Shanghai tour for dep on 5 Dep during the Media Corps Travel Fair recently. I'm now dead worried 'cause I've paid the fare in full as stipulated in the booking form to make full payment within 1 week. When my clleague enquired about the same tour days later, the PRC sales staff there offered her a free land tour package to 8D Shanghai/Suzhou etc land package tour valid within 1 year and transferable if she book the same package as me. She was told there is currently 13 paxs on this departure date already. My friend asked why was it not offered to us that day and to this she said it was unlikely. My friend then enquired whether if it is possible to let us enjoy the bonus trip since we are definitely within the 1st 15 paxs. The PRC staff said it is not possible since the water under the bridge (or our luck due to the sales staff oversight??).
We felt very short changed as we would expect the better deals to be offered at a travel fair as compared to over the counter sales. We have taken the trouble to travel to the town area to make the reservation and to realise that the so call promotion price was only in name. Many of their competitors accepted card payment without any surcharge and even have attractive free gifts tagged to the amount paid by credit that day whilst their company imposed a 1% surcharge. And on their their promotional handbill for this tour package, it was written 8 days $XXX and buy 1 get 1 free which we did not notice till I read it carefully now. We were not given or told what was free package. Anyone who have booked the same tour esp on the same departure date can share with me your sentiments or those who have gone for this package to give us your views so that we can be mentally prepared.

Hi all,

DO NOT GOT TO JUN-AIR !!! Unless u want to take risk/gamble to spoil ur holidays.

There may be a few positive comments which not sure are from JunAir staff or those people are simply lucky. But warning from my point of view as a consumer, no point take the risk.

I booked the Taiwan Tour package with JunAir last year 08 at Natas fair, was really attracted to their nature relaxing itenery they stated in their brochures tht I signed up package with them and tht began my nighmares!!!

During e Natas fair, I stated all my conditions, e flight I want, date to set off etc & everything was promised to me no problem. Before I sign the package, the price stated is diff, got to pay SGD899 instead of what stated in brochures SGD799.I quiry why & was told it was juz a gimmick & I understand tht usually will hv this kind of gimmick to attract people & since I still find price acceptable & their itenery is wat I like, I still sign up with them.

Abt 2 weeks before set off date, I am worry cos there is no calls from JunAir which usually other agency will follow up, I called up (later realised tht they did sent out a letter which I missed out)& in e end, realised they didn't get my contact no during e Natas fair. The letter is to chase e payment and also inform me tht e date promised to set was not able to & I need to change to another date & I need to extend one more day as there is no flight back & pay SGD50 more each for accomomdation for tht day (will be free & easy).Being too late to change & SGD50 is not alot, to save e trouble, we agreed to it.

However the whole trip simply SUCKS!!! This is the first time I am travelling alone with my mum & I feels so bad tht I am not able to get a good tour for her.

1st of all, this trip supposed to be a near to nature, relaxing trip. SPAs, Farmstay,Fruit Plantation visits etc....however wat we get is....

1)NO SPAs (we dun blame cos it is due to e natural disaster tht hit Tawiwan)
2) Lousy accomdation (I am not a fussy person on accomodation as long as it is clean but my god..!!!this is e 1st time I stay in rm tht there is cocroaches wandering on my bed & note : not only my rm, there is another tourmate's rm got cocroaches too.)
3)Brochures stated will go fruit plantation, eat all we can....ya...like real....they bring us to a place, with rows tht grow fruits in a fenced up place & let us buy things. Far away from the plantation tht stated.
4) Lousy tour guide.

I guess maybe this tour is simply too boring & lousy tht some of e tourmates starts to ask around on e prices we paid but it really make me angry tht I am actually paying more than others though I book earlier than them. I booked on e 1st day of Natas fair.

After e trip, I went to the agency to complain abt it,wat I get is they didn't know e other agency partner's arrnagement is so bad (Does it means tht they didn't bother to make sure their working partners in tht country is good ?)& with regards to e staff tht promised set off date during Natas Fair...their explanation is ,she is their temp staff (temp staff is still their staff, does it means they hv no responsibility to make sure they provide correct info ?)

My complaint was pass to their customer service manager, Sharon to follow up and guess wat is her explanation with regards to my extra charge complain. She say tht my initial trip booked is to set off on 15th Sept which tht date it is SGD899, e other grp mate book for the 16th Sept tht is SGD799. BUT HEY !!! I was being forced to change to set off on 16th Sep instead of my inital 15th Sept tht I want & they had caused me some inconvenience & why I was not given the same price of SGD799.

When I do not accept her explanation, Sharon give another reason. I am not in their daily 1st 10 customers promotion to enjoy e SGD799 package???? How to prove ??? I totally can not accept their all kind of explanation & yet Sharon was so rude tht insist me to listen to her.

I am totally not satisfied with their service, from Natas Fair to e whole trip & especially e extra charge tht I told Sharon tht I will go to CASE to complain & guess wat she say ? "No use, based on her experience, it is no use to compain to CASE" It seems they are not afraid of CASE at all. I am really v angry with their attitude.

I reported this to CASE, the only thing I am claiming is only e unreasonable extra charg and as for e bad service & poor tour experience, I treat it on my bad luck and will nvr go back to this agency anymore.

As a consumer, it is really disappointing that CASE really can't help us much. I had report it all e way to Small Claim Tribunal cos I believe there should be justice done & we have our consumer right & we need to stop such agency to spoil more holidays.

We work hard for our money & need holidays to relax & recharge.Should not let such lousy and irresponsible agency to spoil everything

Eventually we ask for the refund, cant stand their bad attitude. Initially we tot of prob change to other dates but they do not want to discuss further and hang up the phone midway of the telecom, telling us e person in charge was on-leave, no one can assist further nor even for cancellation. My hubby was damn angry then he made his way down to ask for refund instead. anyway, we managed to book e trip w other travel agent. Comparing w Jun-travel, e info provided was much better and more detailed. I will nv go to Jun-air travel again, its really terrible !!

Oh dear oh dear oh dear... the more i read the reviews, the more worried i get...

I just booked a Taiwan tour with them during the Aug NATAS'09. Their itinery seemed quite different from the norm, quite interesting, and with the discounted price ($1099/pax + foc Shanghai land tour at ur own preferred period), it seemed worth giving it a try even though i've nvr heard abt this agency before.

A Taiwan guide was at the fair, he was very friendly and explained things to us patiently. We were impressed and signed up with them on the spot.

But now... after reading so much bad reviews abt this agency... i'm getting so worried... there's 6 of us, not easy to coordinate our leave... now that we finally compromise to the same dates, i really hope nothing goes wrong...

Anybody booked the same package as me?? (Dep date: 6dec)

Now that it's too late to withdraw, any advice on how to safeguard myself??

Does any of you know how much we are supposed to tip the guides (both the korean and chinese guides)? I was told that we have to tip them US$5 per day per person. That's alot of money. Is that true? Please advise....Thx very much.

Wow! Seems like this agency has never changed for the better! NATAS coming so remember to STAY AWAY from this agency!
I booked Taiwan package for my family at NATAS during March this year. But they subsequently lied to me that there is a change in airflight schedule & forced me to change my itinerary. However I found out about it & requested for full refund. They refused & wanted us to pay for the penalty. No choice we brought this case to NATAS & Jun-Air then provided us with the original itinerary.
During the trip, my other tour members revealed all sorts of frustrations on this agency. Not even that, some of their attractions on the itinerary are not true. According to Taiwan counterpart, majority of Jun-Air customers are unhappy with their service esp their dishonesty way in dealing with customers.
Though my Taiwan guide has done a good job in making our trip an enjoyable one, the disputes with Jun-Air & frustration caused (prior the trip) has almost ruined our holidays!
Advice to travellers : STAY AWAY FROM THIS AGENCY!

YES! Strongly agreed!.. NEVER BOOK any package from JUN-AIR TRAVEL!!!!

I booked free and easy package to Taiwan in Apr for 25-29May09, The agents are very helpful in booking the trip for us.

BUT when we heard of the H1N1 breakout sometime in end of Apr09, we ask if there is any penalty if we want to cancel our trip, the agent told us that it is still early since our trip is in May09, hold on to it 1st since the air ticket has yet been issued, will ask if we want to go ahead with the trip before they issued the tickets. But they did not! When I happened to call them and ask them about the situation and arrangement, then she told me that tickets are issued! After tickets issued, if I want to cancel the trip, I need to pay the penalty which I thought she said that she will inform me before issuing the tickets?!! She added... Oh, since it is still early, hold on to it 1st. If Taiwan side announced that it is not safe to go, you do not have to pay any penalty.
So, I wait again since even though now I want to cancel, I also need to pay the penalty. On 22May09, news announced there is a case in Taiwan, I called to cancel my trip. After checking a few times with her finance, agent told me that I need to pay $150 each for the airticket and $50 each for the hotel. So each to deduct $200 from the payment. The refund will only be done around 3mths time. Thinking since it is just $200, we canceled our trip.
I sent email to the agent, no reply after 2 emails, I called them. I was informed that the agent left the company AND the refund I will be taking is $830(for 2 pax) instead of $1344(for 2 pax)as they claimed that they have already paid the hotel in full. Hotel payment will be forfieted which I wasnt informed!!!! What is this? So in total the penalty is $914!!!! which we thought is just $400 in the 1st place upon acknowledgement of the confirmation of refund email. This is too much!... with $914, I can go to another holiday!!!
The attitude of the staffs are equally bad. When ask for the Boss, they said that the boss dont interfere on this type of matters and she is new, only incharge of issuing cheque. THAT\'s ALL!
I insisted to talk to someone who can decide. She said that the one who can decide is the one((DAMN RUDE) who spoke to me the day before.
They wont give in even though I said that I want to go and complain.
Not sure where can I go to complain regarding this... Sad...

Their attitude and service sucks when it comes to refund.

So, please do not book any package from them. Cheaper than other tour agencies but not worth taking the risk!

One Comment: DO NOT BOOK WITH JUN-AIR!!! If there are good reviews, it\'s either they are very lucky or it was posted by their own staff!

my relaxed holiday to Taiwan last dec turned out to be an unhappy and stressed event.
1)Dishonesty!!! They changed our flight from china airline to Jetstar without informing and insisted that we cannot cancel our booking. So we were forced to continue with the tour only to realise that there are tour members who withdraw and get full refund.

2) Even the taiwan counterpart knew of JUN-AIR\'s bad reputation and advised us not to book with JUN-AIR in future.

Luckily, the taiwan tour guide was not bad but the logistic mess up and dishonesty of JUN AIR before the trip was enough to spoil your holiday!

my advice: Don\'t take the risk, although their price seems attractive, there are hidden cost and I ended up spending more.

I thought I was unlucky but my fren booked their china tour this june and had to go through similar trouble. Her trip was delayed by 2 days and she was informed only a week before the trip. She could not make it and asked for refund but JUN AIR refused. Only when my fren said that if that is the case she will call CASE to lodge a complaint, they agree to refund her money. So my fren need to find another tour agency in the last minute to book her tour!!! She made her booking with JUN AIR in Feb but she was glad that she did not proceed with JUN AIR package. So far, I had not personally know of anyone who booked with JUN AIR and was very happy with their service.

In my opinion, they should be banned from NATAS fair so that less people got con by them!!

Appreciation from family of late Mr Teo Ming Lian

Dear MSIG, ISOS, Travel Agent (Jun-Air Travel), Singapore Embassy (Shanghai), Presbyterian Church at Joo Chiat
ANGELS CAME TO ASSISTANCE IN OUR CRISIS
At the dawn on 12th June (Friday), we are aggrieved and disturbed from a long distance call that informed us that father had suddenly passed away in the midst of holidaying with mother and friends in Heng Dian, near Zhe Jiang, China. Though this place is 5.5 hours flight away from Singapore, the thought of mother being alone in a foreign land and the uncertainty and challenges to bring father’s body back to Singapore put us in a state of sorrow and confusion.
On 13th June at 8am, my brother-in-law, my husband and myself, caught a flight to Shanghai. It was a journey of anxiety and anticipation. It had never crossed our minds that we would fly overseas under such circumstances. From Pu Dong International airport, a polite Chinese man (Mr Lee), picked us up with the arrangement of Jun-Air Travel, we travelled on this vast country for another 4.5 hours before we saw mother. Accompanied by the tour guide (Ms Chen Dan Ying), mother broke down and related how father did not wake up after morning call. I was impressed how my brother-in-law patiently comforted and assured mother that everything would be well taken care of as I was speechless and could only prayed for God’s guidance.
Ms Chen, who was with mother was steady, kind and attentive. She put us up in a cosy resort for the night, despite the 99% occupancy rate of hotels as it was the Shanghai movie festival. At 11pm in the resort, a representative from the ISOS (activated by MSIG) met and briefed us regarding the various procedures for cremation. We were impressed by the efficiency and responsiveness of MSIG and ISOS.
On 14th June, we will brought to the crematorium at 8am. From the time of selecting the ash urn to the moment we walked out of the crematorium, the whole process was amazingly seamless. We had appropriate time to say “goodbye” to father and discussed the other processes like arrangement to return to Singapore. By afternoon, we were certain that we can come back to Singapore on the same day and the ISOS helped us to arrange the flight with SIA departing at midnight. Miraculously, the timing coincided with the returned flight (with China Eastern) of mother and we could go to the airport together.
We touched down in Singapore on 15th June early morning, greeted by all our family members at the Changi International Airport. All my nieces and nephews woke up at 3am to receive “Ah Gong” at the airport.
If there were no angels on earth, then we must have met the most helpful, efficient, attentive and thoughtful humankind, who came to offer their services in our desperate times. Otherwise, we could not but strongly believe there must be an unseen, powerful divine intervention to smooth out our paths, to calm our nerves and to guide us every moment from the time we heard of the awful news and now back to Singapore. Upon speaking to mother, we also realized that the trip is organized by a Christian church group and on the day father departed us, all the church members comforted, consoled and prayed for father, mother and our family members. If it was not from divine to help us pull through the most difficult moments, then what could that be?;)
Thank you MSIG, ISOS, Travel Agent (Jun Air), Singapore Embassy (Shanghai), Church of (xxxxxx) and everyone who assisted us in one way or the other.
With love and heartfelt thanks,
Agnes (daughter in law) and family
Cc: Brother in law (Yong Khoon), I salute you brother for handling the crisis with calm, steadiness, patience, and love.

On top of the school holiday s/c issue, they told me the hotel in shanghai is near to the MRT station where we can have our own time, go to the places we wanted to go. End up, we were put at a hotel out of town, near residential/ industrial area. We cant go anywhere except a nearby night market which sell all the outdated things. We also face the same problem as what mentioned by KT, the tour guide insisted we should go for the optional tour at S$40/head. My son happen to have fever that day, when I told her i wanted to withdraw, she was not happy and end up the optional tour was cancel but we were told to pay S$10/head as they brought us to the "cheng huang miao" which is not included in the package. The so call "free Shanghai city tour + hotel"is actually not the free one. The shanghai tour only bring us to the places to buy chinese medicine, feng shui tings, pearl. The shopping center "tao bao cheng"is an yucky shopping center, nothing much, only those imitation things and the sales person in the shop also anyhow asking for price. If you dont know how to bargain, sure kena ketuk. Overall, it is unhappiness experience in Shanghai.
And we spent a lot of time for transit of flight which is wasting of time. Don't ever go for such tour package again !! They will tell you the reason for such arrangement is from S'pore to Shanghai then to Incheon or Jeju airport is nearer, you do not need to bring the luggage up & down. End up, we were put on 4.30 pm flight fr Sin to Shanghai, ten next day 12.20 pm fr Shanghai to Incheon. We lost one morning in Shanghai for nothing. They also promised to let me have the night flight back from Shanghai to Sin, then end up we were put on morning 10.20 flight. What kind of promised they have ???

Jun Air not an honest company!!! I just came back from Korea/Shanghai tour on 05-Jun. Korea tour guide not bad, but shanghai tour guide, yuck!!! Another thing is we have total of 23 person in a group, the rest of 20 ppl do not need to pay for the school holiday surcharge of $100/head, only myself n my two kids have to pay for S$100/head for this school holiday surcharge. When i came back n call the office, they said it was the mistake handle by their temp staff during the NATAS fair, they did not collect the s/c from the other tour group member and the temp staff was told to compensate the company loses. This is bull shit!! How can it be, we have total of 5 family, only 1 family need to pay and the other 4 family do not need to pay ???? I am going to log in the complaint with CASE if they refuse to pay me back $300/-.
My advice after this tour is : never ever book the tour package with Jun Air. Not only this incident, we also facing some unhappiness in Shanghai.

dear all

please note when you travel with jun air. we had an unhappy incident with the contracted tour guide in china. as there is an optional tour in our iternery, the tour guide did not ask for our consent. instead, she claimed that her company in china has already booked the so called "popular" tickets for all of us. the ticket costs $40 sing dollar per head and she insisted that we should go. reason being, she and the driver do not have salary. their main income comes from us if we were to pay for the tickets.

think she is trying hard to act pathetic. do not fall into their tricks. my advice, dun take their china package.

nonetheless, korea was good. no complains for the tour guide and hotel stays.

I totally agree with all those who have contributed to warn others from going to this agency. DO NOT GO TO THIS AGENCY.

Last year I book My Taiwan Trip in Aug Natas 08. They claim that they are the best in Taiwan. Should be the worse. After paid my deposite for 2 weeks they call us to go and pay the difference. I only travel in Nov08.

The Staff and the boss is also not honest.

Is horrible from the day I book the tour. Never end. The tour packages that they offer differ from the actual itinerary.

The actual day the fight delay and I not informed. When we reach Taiwan, The tour guide is also bad and not according to the plan.

They just for the money and not honest to the consumers.

Oh yeah... Forgot to add. Was also promised at least 4 star hotel stay in ALL hotels. In the end after checking those hotel websites. Discovered that they lied to us. The hotels we had to stay in were all 2 to 3 stars only. But fortunately Korea hotels were high in standard so their 2-3 star hotels were pretty okay... Also luckily the Korean tour guide was really good. brought us to nice restaurants for meals but of cos we have to top up the difference for the better foods. He did not pressure us to buy at those shops or factory outlets. He just told us to take a look since they are in the itinerary but NO NEED to buy also okay. =D So in conclusion, just boycott Jun Air Travel Agency unless you want a spoilt holiday. XD

Please don't book your tour from this agency. My cousin and I regretted getting their Korea-Shanghai package during the Mar'08 NATAS fair. I will just share part of the bad experiences as there were way toooo many... We signed up at the fair due to their confirmation of "guaranteed" departing date and time - Saturday morning. We also paid $500 each as deposit. A few weeks later, we were informed that the departure date was on Sunday morning. No briefing confirmation until Friday evening before the trip, and was after numerous calls and a trip down to their agency. During briefing, was informed that the flight was on Sunday 1am, which means we have to reach airport on Sat 11pm! We only had 1 day to prepare for the trip. 10 of us in the tour but we had to do our own checking in at Changi airport and Shanghai airport for transit stay in hotel as the connecting flight was 8 hours later. Shanghai leg of the trip was the worst. One of our group members who was a Malaysian could not enter Shanghai as the travel agency did not properly apply for visa. She was stuck in Korea while the remaining 9 of us took our flight to Shanghai. The Korean counterpart even tried to force her to pay for a US1000 flight back to S'pore but she refused. Poor girl had to wait for 12 hours alone at Korea airport for her flight. When we reached Shanghai, local female tour guide wanted to save cost and bunk in with the group member whose roommate couldn't make it to Shanghai but our whole group protested. The tour guide mumbled in the mike and didn't give eye contact to us. Tried to pressurise us to sign up for optional tours. When a few refused, she abandoned us all at the hotel at 7pm. Next day brought us to places where more staff pressured us to buy jade or medicines, etc... Showed us black face throughout the trip as she was unable to earn much commission from us. Demanded tips from us on the 2nd last day.

They told us that the sequences of the itinerary are subjected to changes & the places that we proposed can be included into the itinerary easily wihtout confirmation from those in the same tour group.
Should we book for the tour package??Please advise...

The tour leader & china tour guide is very professional & caring. offcouse, some of our tour members were unhappy with the optional tour that they paid. As wat i knw, no matter which travel agency i join the tour to china, sure hv optional tour. But for us, we already knw china market practise. Just like this year, chan brother & ctc hv a promotion fair at suntec. The china tour hailougou is very cheap & the optional tour is 800rmb higher than other travel agency & is compulsory must join & everyday bring them go to their shop to buy chinese medicine, stone, silk, tea, jewelary etc.... instead of sightseeing. My friend just came back last wk, cursed & sweared, they never go back to chan brother anymore. Luckily, last yr, i joined junair was not like that cos i paid 2x higher price than wat they hv paid.....hee....

Your review

Hi all, like many of you unhappy & unlucky consumers, recently a friend of mine too had a nasty experience with this agency.

(1) Printed contents misleading. Different from actual itin.

(2) The rating of the hotels indicated in their brochures is questionable. For example, in their printed contents, they state 4/5 stars, but a research on the internet indicates different rating, usually of a lower category like 2/3 stars.

(3) Like what most of you had experienced, yes, they like to change dates and itin after you have booked the tour. Yes, their tone/attitude is threatening when they force down your throat to accept their new changes. My gut feel is that they either do not have enough ppl to form a group or they try to cut cost by combining a few groups. Therefore some of you had experienced last minute cancellations or \"unforseen\" changes to what you had initially booked and wanted. Watever it is, their bottomline is that the cost/loss is bear by consumers and not them. They will have to make sure that they are not at a loss. But in the first place, before they secure your business, they commit to you \"enough ppl to form a group...sure fly on this date...no other date...blah blah blah\".

(4) Poor product knowledge and bad service attitude. Will try to divert or avoid your enquiries relating to your tour by giving ridiculous excuses. Some of their reasons and excuses are so damn stupid that they are actually slapping their own faces.

(5) Most of their staff seem to be PRC as they cant speak good English or can hardly speak nor understand English. When they converse in mandarin, they are very rude or sarcastic, reflecting serious attitude problem. It is a frustrating and annoying experience.

In conclusion : Please do not go to this agency. They do not deserve your business. High chance your holiday plans will be destroyed by them. Not only this, you still have to go through unnecessary stress during the course of refund process like what most ppl here had experienced.

For those of you who are unlucky to encounter similiar experiences, take your grievances to STB, CASE to highlight your plights. If you have booked your tours in the annual NATAS Fairs, engage their intervention to address your grievances.

Based on NATAS guidelines, under certain circumstances, you have the right to demand compensation from tour operator. The amount is equal to 5% of full payment. Please call up NATAS to check.

Do not continue to remain silent victims of such tour operator.

Hi, I echo the response of many who have posted here. I wish I had been wiser and had the time to do research before I went to NATAS and book my tickets. Even though Jun-air prices are one of the lowest, I would have rather paid a little more for reliable services and peace of mind had I known I would have to face so much frustrations from Jun-air's rude service and poor product knowledge.

1) Promised SQ, ended up with Jetstar.

2) Was asked to change our departure date so that they can fill up an earlier group. Was threatened that our group might be cancelled because not many people book on the same departure date as us. We made a lot of noise and told them we book that date because it is the only date we can fly. They called us back 10min later and say don't need to change date already.

3) Faxed our passport particulars to them but no confirmation after 10 calls to them to ask them to verify if they have received it.

4) When we ask them to check and volunteered to give them our invoice number so that they can search for our booking, they say "we don't look at invoice number." @__@

5) Told us that only 1 person named Cindy was incharge of handling travels to Taiwan. When we called to ask for Cindy, they told us that she was coming in later and asked us to call back after 12noon. We called back, the girl said Cindy not coming today. She said she will get Cindy to call us back. We asked for her name. She say give us also no use. She is only working there for that 1 day and will not be coming in to work here any more!?!

6) Went down to make payment for air ticket, told us the boss not around, cannot issue ticket. (BUT we were told by the boss to go down and collect on that day at that time.) After must pestering, they said they "found" our booking order on the shelf and issued the tickets to us.

Please let your friends know never to book with them...I think five star travel is much better. (not fantastic, but way better than jun-air)

Harrowing experience in HaiNan. Tour guide brought us to seafood place; the bill was astronomical costing RMB1300(only 4 dishes of egg, vege, soup & 1 fish) When we comment that the fish cost of SGD200 is outrageous, the tour guide suddenly stops vehicle in pitch dark road. When we ask why he stops, he ask whether we are afraid now. He mentioned that some tour guides who don't make enough money from the group leave the tourists stranded in the middle of the road. We felt threatened by him & decided to keep quiet as we have 3 kids with us. The next day was worse. He told us when we got into his vehicle that the itinerary changed; many things in Li & Miao villages need to pay; Tian Ya Ha Jiao not covered; & Ya Long bay only sand & water. He insists & brought us to visit the shops first; jewelry, crystal, coffee & medical shops from 8am to 3pm when we finally reach hotel in Haikou. So no tour. We were fuming mad; we paid to see interesting places & not there for him to rip us. So never never book your tour thru JUN AIR.

However, PIC called me and said that there is no flight on 21/Dec and wanted us to go on other days but we have booked our leave and very difficult to change now as most of our co-workers already 'reserved' the annual leave.

Now 8 of us are working very hard to get our leave to be approved.

However, thanks for your reply and glad that you have enjoyed your trip.

What I heard from them is, jun-air actually ask them to change their flight to SQ instead of MU. 3 travel mates rejected. But luckily, they get MU before they fly. But the other 2 travel mates r not so lucky. They hv to fork out another S$500 plus to take SQ.

I am very happy for this trip, the tour guide is very friendly and good. Although theres only 13 of us, but we are having a 30 pax coach bus. Hotel is nice and comfy. Food is nice too. Our tour guide is very thoughtful, the very 1st day, we all find that the dishes serve in shanghai is very salty and we just made a comment on it. the rest of the day, to our surprize, he told the kitchen not to add too much salt for all our dish.
He explained a lot of chinese history through out the trip. Overall, nice trip, nice hotel, nice food and good tour guide!

This is the worst travel agency I have come across.

I had signed up with them for a Feb 08 tour because they had a new route – Hailuogou/Xiling Snow Mt (Sichuan - Chengdu).

Money minded : I had never came across an agency who would call customers repeatedly to chase for final payment (once a week, 6 wks prior to departure date). Usually, the final payment is upon confirmation of tour, together with the tour briefing as well as collection of air tickets.

Rude, bad product knowledge : When asked for certain information, they would either brush you off or answer in a very sarcastic manner. Apparently, these PRCs do not know that we S’poreans are a well traveled lot. So actually, they are just slapping themselves with stupid lies. They can promise you the stars and the moon, but it is only when you reach there, the local guide will inform you that the execution is impossible given the time constraint & logistics.
If you guys could remember. China was hit with continuous snowstorm in Jan 08. We called them to enquire if the tour would commence given the great degree of damage caused by the snowstorm. One of the PRC staff replied in a very rude manner that tour will commence no matter what, its at the discretion of the agency to divert to alternative attractions is necessary.

Dishonesty : On the day of the tour briefing, we were told by the PRC staff that the 1 night hot spring resort stay & 1 meal of mushroom hotpot will be removed because the area is affected by roadblock caused by the snowstorm. Together with the other tour mates, we asked if there would be alternatives/ replacements. For this, we were shot back in a sarcastic manner, ending with a “NO”. However, over at Chengdu, we were brought to a hot spring resort for lunch. We recognized the hot spring resort to be the one that was listed in the itinerary. When we asked the tour guide about it, his reply was that S’pore agency did not ask them to book the rooms in the resort. The tour guide confirmed that his resort was not affected by the snowstorm/ road blockage - as originally claimed by Jun Air!!! Due to the fact that we had to stay in a city hotel instead of the hot spring resort, the time allowed to spend on Xiling Mountain was affected. One highlight of the tour was snow activity in Xiling Snow Mountain – however due to what Jun Air had done – we missed the hot spring, and could only spend 1 hr on the snow mountain.

Inexperienced tour guide : As most of us know, china tours are often laden with optional tours. However, what we experienced was atrocious. On the day of tour briefing (amongst the tour group), we had decided on the optional tours that we are keen on. The s’pore office agreed to fax the list to their china counterpart – so that the tour guide could pre-plan the route. However, upon reaching Chengdu, the tour guide denied receiving any information about this. When we highlighted the ones that we wanted, he either told us that the attraction is out of the way or the attraction is not worth visiting. Instead, he promoted his own list of optional tours. As PRCs have a flare for twisting their words, and we are at a foreign land (at their mercy), we decided to go ahead with his recommendations. Exorbitant rates were charged for visiting 1) a flower market cum garden (most flowers withered, only a few plum trees in season) 2) several ancient towns (several ancient towns which looked the same). When we queried him on that, he could only tell us that his office is paid only a few hundred dollars to include accommodation, transport, sightseeing & food (fyi, the tour fare was nearly S$1.5k for a 7 day tour, flying by Air China). As such, they had to charge a high markup for their optional tours.
Another highlight of the tour was to visit Hailuogou (a glacier). At first, the tour guide suggested meeting at 6.30am. However, he changed the timing to 7am instead with the pretext that it will not be so cold at 7am. When we were there, there was already a huge crowd ahead of us. We were 45 mins into the journey, when we were told that we could not proceed any further due to the massive jam ahead (If we had met at 6.30am, we would have avoided the jam, and would be able to enjoy the sights of Hailuogou!!). As the bus was not able to turn back down the snowy mountain road. The tour guide made a stupid suggestion that all of us should walk down to the base camp (It was snowing heavily, snow at ankle depth, 8 pax out of 14 pax were aged 60 & above). He told us that “rescue” would only come many hours later, thus “forcing” us to make our way back by foot. While we were walking down the mountain roads, we realized that there were many empty vans driving up the mountain, and the very same vans zoomed pass us again ferrying the passengers down. This was when we realized that our tour guide either did not SOS the command centre for help or he does not know that “rescue” efforts are prompt. Thus, he made the irresponsible & stupid idea of making us walk down (2 hours on foot).
The commentaries made by the tour guide was also not up to par. He did not bother to explain certain cultures & history to us. Did not bother to understand the likes & dislikes of customers – imagine this - he gave us 40 mins for shopping in Chunxi shopping street – Chengdu’s equivalent of Orchard Road. But gave us 2 hours in an ancient town. The standard of this tour guide fail miserably, especially so if compared to a local guide contracted by Chan Brothers. Despite his poor performance, he dared to knock on our hotel rooms to 1) ask for tips 2) ask for good ratings when we evaluate his service 3) sign indemnity form to back his claim that the Hailuogou attraction was omitted due to massive jam (the irony was that it was due to his bad planning that caused the group to missed the attraction)

We are not blaming them for flight delay but we are not happy with the cancellation of the Shanghai guided tour.
We had paid S$620 for total Korea and China airport tax, plus S$ 40 per person for visa application. We are paying the China airport tax and visa for Shanghai tour but at the end it was cancelled. All the 12 of us chosen this package tour is that it included the 2 days guided tour in Shanghai, therefore we don’t mind the transit cuz thinking we will stay in Shanghai for 2 days then back from there instead of Seoul.
We felt like cheated as the cancellation was not due to urgent situation and it was like you have paid for the price of 2 but only gotten 1. The very lease they can do is to replace the 2 days Shanghai guided tour to similar package.
When they told us that the shanghai tour was cancelled and we negotiate that they have to replace the transport & meal that cover for the 2 days as promised they said they can only refund S$50 per person and not any more without the boss approval. We wanted to speak to the boss or person-in-charge but they said they are unable to contact them cuz the boss is not answering the phone and we can only take it or leave it. What to do if you had planned everything and will be depart by next day?

Now aday airport tax subject to change is very normal due to feul. To be fair flight delay we cant blame on travel agency. I do travel with others travel agency b4 not only junair; like chan brother, asa, sa those big travel agency to alot of country and aso come across with flight delay when we r in rome. We aso need to top-up e airport tax different. As a travel agency we believed that they aso like to serve u guys better, maybe there r some misunderstanding in between cos sometime airlines aso like to cancel flight last mins which knw it from my friends working in travel agency.

Hi we are back from Korea, just to share our experience, when you booked with Jun-Air you will have to expect for extra charged and unforeseen changes, for the 12 of us from difference part of country who join this tour we will not consider them again.
As I mentioned, our 2 days Shanghai guided tour was cancelled by them on the day before our departure date but in our group there were 4 members was asked to top up another S$180.00 for 2 days F&E in Shanghai instead of the guided tour as stated on the itinerary.
We had paid the extra airport tax and visa fee and have to go through all the transit from SIN-Shanghai-Jeju, return from Seoul – Shanghai – SIN, all this transit take a lot of walking and rushing as during the return trip the plane was delayed and when we landed it was over the boarding time, we was told by the airline attendant that our luggage might not be able to load in the same plane and we might have to collect on next day. Thank God that at the end the flight was delay and we managed to collect our luggage.
This is really an unpleasant experience, we had paid for extra S$200+ for nothing and had changed China currency but at the very last min we are not going to China and have to spend more money on transport and meal for our 2 days F&E in Korea, in Korea most of them don’t speak English and most of their sub-way don’t have elevator or escalator, it will be a night mare if you have young children or elderly travel with you.
Some good news for those who booked their Korea tour, the Korea Land tour agent is good and the tour guide Ms Li is fun and caring, so if there’s no mishap at Jun-Air you should be safe.
Good luck to all who booked with them.

We r suppose to dept tonight to shanghai/Korea 8 days but we have keep calling them for Air ticket & others detail as we are worried after seeing all the reviews.
But the staff keeps telling us not to worry or the person in-charge of this tour is not in until last evening, they ask us to go down for briefing and told us that 2 days shanghai was cancelled and we have to stay in Seoul 2 days F&E with only Hotel and transfer to airport to Shanghai transit back to Spore without included meal as promised in Shanghai. After a long and tiresome negotiation we manage to get a “compensation” of S$50.00 pax for meals and transport expenses for the 2 days that should be cover fully by guided tour and meals in Shanghai.
The more “chi cake” thing was that we was asked to apply Visa on 17/9 and did check with them did they booked the ticket as we wanted to know what the transit timing and hotel. They had given us the flight no to Shanghai but no other information said the hotel was not confirmed. Isn’t that they have to booked everything when full amount was paid and the minimum ppl to go requirement was met?
Those already booked with them really got to pray real hard, their staff seem like very used to the situation like our case, when we are auguring and negotiating the others staff can still laugh and joke among themselves like nothing happened. Praise Load that they are still operating and not closed up before your departure date.
Now we got to pray real hard that they had arranged every thing when we reach Korea and the air ticket is not faux.

Any comments on the rule of tax and fuel surcharge? During NATA fare in September 2008 we make a booking for 8 days Korea/Shanghai. Till now no itinerary nor notification from them and we have to call them numerous time for itinerary. Our departure is supposed to be 3rd Oct 2008 and we are now told that there is additional surcharge of $80.00 imposed by Airline and the itinerary will only be ready by 30th September, 2008. I am quite sceptical about the standard of tour. They said that the final taxes will be computed on the day of departure and if anything lower we will get refund! From my finding from other airticketing company there is no notification from China Eastern Airlines for any increase and the last notice was supposed to be in July 2008. Therefore, for those who first consideration for a cheaper deal don't go to Jun Air Travel! They have no ethical in doing business!

\"I\'m sorry, we forgot about you,\" said the agent.

WTF! I\'ve already paid deposit, and you said you \"forgot\" about us.

They offered to change to another date, but our leaves are already fixed.

We demanded a full refund, and thankfully, they gave us the refund in cash.

Those comments in Chinese were probably written by Jun-Air themselves. They didn\'t realised that teachers can\'t travel during school holidays! This is a very nasty firm who should not be allowed to operate in Singapore!

My parents booked a tour to Tibet which was then cancelled because the Chinese Government banned all tours there.

Jun-Air refused to refund the money but said my parents could switch to another tour. When they wanted to book another tour to somewhere else, Jun Air said the price has to be $600 higher than the advertised price because they had switched from the Tibet tour. In fact, $600 was the full amount of the deposit paid for the Tibet tour - obviously Jun-Air was trying to makan the whole sum! This is utter nonsense. They even claimed that could confiscate the deposit if they wanted to, as the cancellation of the tour was an act of god.

After a lot of deliberate delays caused by Jun Air, my parents finally went to Small Claims Tribunal. Jun-Air came out of all sorts of excuses to support their claims. My 70+ year old parents were very tired of the whole process which had dragged on for months and ultimately settled for a refund of $450. So Jun-Air made $150 for NOTHING!

When they were at the Small Claims office, the staff there said Jun-Air was also subject of at least one similar suit at the same time.

So, I urge all: Avoid this terrible operator!

What kind of answer is that! I hope there's no one as unlucky as me to get an insult to a question! O heck!!! We have just booked a trip for taiwan at S$1299 each, traveling in December and have paid a deposit of S$3,000 for 3 adults and 2 small kids. One child, aged 10 paying full adult fare coz need a bed. Less than a week after payment, they rang up and asked to pay the balance of the tour fare because airline co. increasing fuel surcharge!! Had a nasty shock coz the sexy lady boss said no more payment beside the balance. Now have to pay surcharge? Hong Thai (HT) also has taiwan package at S$899 which is inclusive of fuel surcharge as printed on their brochure and HT also stated clearly which hotel the tourists will stay. But for Jun air, nothing stated and we have to waste hours in transit at HK airport!!! 1 day wasted. Think we made a big mistake chosing this tour co. Not only that, one of the sales woman insist that we buy insurance from the date of deposit and not travel. She said that it's up to us if we don't listen to her. Her reason is that the deposit is non-refundable in the event that something happens to anyone of us before travel. Since she brought this subject up, i think we should insure ourselves against them and not against our mishap like illness or accidents or losses. Why?? Are we not afraid that they can be runaway agents or worse go into bankruptcy? Have a feeling that they will not fulful their promises of 4/5 stars hotel. Anyone got any news about them?

Admin fee $1100 for change tour?
My friends and I book a Taiwan tour leaving on 28th June. However, we decide to change when there were reports of possible earthquakes.

Initially, they told us no admin fee for changing. Now, they state they will have to charge us as we are not getting a package equivalent to $899. We don't mind a couple of hundred dollars admin fee, but $1100?

Also, the tour agent was not forthcoming in the hotel charges and admin breakdown. I have to request for it many times till I raise my voice loud enough for the rest of the customers to hear, she had no choice but to let me know the fee.

Imagine if I have blindly agree and just signed up? More than a $1500 will be used for administration fees.

Wow, got me really worried after reading all the above reviews though unfortunately have already paid the deposit travelling to Taiwan in early Jun.

What can I do about it - can I get a refund as would like to cancel the tour that I have booked with them? Who is the person in NATAS that I can contact to assist me with a refund?

If not, what safety precaution or assurance can I get - they also promised 4 and 5 star hotels in Taiwan.

Many thanks to all who have posted here - wish I have read this before I book and paid up as otherwise with such negative feedbacks, no chance that I will use such travel agency.

Thanks again for all kind travellers who have given their feedback.

Helo KC,
you can try writing to STB to complain and go through the Small Claim for the 5% compensation you have the right to get back. If not, try calling to the newspaper agencies to highlight your case to everyone. You can also report to CASE to blacklist the company.

NO SHOW for shanghai tour.....
Signed up with Jun Air for Shanghai tour for May 3 - 11 (checked in Airport May 2) on 14 Apr as I was told that the team is formed. And sometime 22 Apr called the agent to pay up the bal and collect ticket. But was told to collect only 3 days before departure. However, on 29 April, the agent's staff called to inform me that of the cancellation of my tour. I was offered to join the next tour/REFUND or join either Taiwan or Korea tours. Not to mentioned the higher cost, I am unable to apply as and when they want. When I asked why the team eventually dissolved, They told me the rest had changed to other tours. I believe the info given to me was misleading. Like the other writers, I was totally disgusted and disappointed as all my effort and time preparing for the tour became nothing. I asked to speak with PIC. Again, was told PIC not in. I wrote an email but no reply. As my refund takes time to process (could be rubber time) My last resort, wrote to NATAs. NATAs officer actually called them and cc the email to me. I called almost everyday and only received refund (nett no compensation) on 8 May. Per NATA's guideline, the travel agent is to compensate5% of package payment in full. sad..TOTAL WASTE OF TIME and effort... Beware, join JUN-AIR at yr own risk

CATS Classified (SPH) organised a contest with Jun-Air last Nov 2007 which stated that Jun-Air is the sponsor for the prizes (5D4N full board in Hainan Island worth $1,376 for 2 or 4D3N Free & Easy Shanghai worth $976 for 2 for 5 winners).

I\'m one of the \'lucky winner\' that \'won\' the 4D3N F&E Shanghai package for 2 Adults. I received a notification letter on 1 Jan 2008 from SPH to claim the prize by 31 Jan 2008. There\'s not much information about the prize I \'won\', so I decided to go down to the agency to understand more about the prize on the 1st Friday of Jan, thinking that I can have more time to plan the trip.

But when I was there, I was told the person-in-charge (PIC) was not in town and they refused to tell me the name of the PIC. Then the PRC staffs asked me to leave down my contact details for the PIC to contact me 2days later when the PIC returns.

But after waited for a week after my 1st visit, I called the agency up to look for the PIC. One of the PRC staff very rudely told me off that I\'m not the only one who has won a prize and asked me when is the deadline stated on my notification letter. When I advised her it was 31 Jan, immediately she retorted back saying, \"You already said it\'s 31st and it\'s only what date today? Why the hurry? You still got some days, right?\" I was so fed-up that I simply don\'t want to continue the conversation anymore.

Another week passed and still no news from Jun-air, so I called again to enquire. This means I\'m only left with 1 more week to the deadline. Still, I got the same rude reply and asked me to fax my details again and wait for few more days.

But after that call, I called Classified to ask for help from the sender of the letter. To my surprise, I was told they can\'t do anything as the sponsor is Jun-Air. Their job is only to draw the winners and notify them. So, no choice, I can only keep bugging Jun-Air.

After my final call to Jun-air 4 days before the deadline, a PRC staff called to advise more about the prize.

But this staff said that Jun-air don\'t provide F&E packages, only Group Tour packages, So the Shanghai F&E package I \'won\' for 2 can\'t be provided at all! Now they decided to change the prize to LAND PACKAGE ONLY for 2 to Jiangnan 8days group package. This means in order to claim the land package prize, I must purchase air-tickets from them for that tour group! I asked if I can change to air-tickets to nearby country instead, even if they are lesser than the $976 value of my initial prize, the staff said I don\'t have a choice so can\'t change, that\'s the only prize available to us!

What\'s this? Isn\'t this cheating the public?!

SO, TO ALL CONSUMERS OUT THERE, DON\'T BOTHER TO ENQUIRE FROM THIS AGENCY!!!

My wife and me had booked a 8 days 7 nights holidays to Shanghai from 20 to 27 Dec 07 with Jun Air at the cost of $599 each at the NATAS Travel fair in Sep 07. The sales personnel had told us that we had to pay an additional $80 each for an optional tour package which includes a River Cruise at the Huang Pu River.

Before departing, we were told to paid an additional of $31 for increase in fuel charges. We had no choice but to pay up because we had already paid a $500 deposit each.

When we went for the briefing, we were again told that there is a change to the itinerary. The HuangPu River Cruise had been taken out of the itinerary. We were not compensated for the difference in the itinerary after paying the $80.

At the NATAS Travel Fair, we were told that we will be staying at 4 to 5 stars hotel accommodations but instead, we had been allocated at 3 to 4 stars hotel during the trip.

We were even more shock when we saw the coach bus that came and fetch us at the airport. Instead of a regular tour coach bus, we were given a school bus that was so cramp that we had difficulty loading our luggage bags. The bus windows were tinted and we were unable to look at the scenery outside when the bus was travelling.

I'll never want to book with this Travel Agency again. Please warn all your friends not to be mislead by the advertisement.DON'T EVEN BOTHER TO CHECK OUT PACKAGES FROM THEM.

DON'T EVEN BOTHER TO CHECK OUT PACKAGES FROM THEM! I'm planning a trip to Korea however alot of agencies are already fully-booked for December. I decided to check them out since I was in People's Park. When we stepped in, there were 2 customers so I decided to look through the brochures, the customers were handled by a PRC and her tone was rude. After the customers left, she asked us abruptly what we were looking for and when I asked about their Korea packages, she sarcastically and rudely asked us if we are agents??? Her ATTITUDE SUCKS big time! I simply walked out w/o even bothering tp answer her allegation. If that's the attitude you're gonna give to walk-in customers, I seriously doubt they'll be able to provide good service with integrity.

They are indeed very UNPROFESSIONAL! It is fronted by some PRCs who seem inexperienced to me. For eg, I initially wanted to book a trip on a particular day. This PRC said "sure no problem, will fly". Just immediately after she charged to my card, another clerk (who was behind another desk all this while) walked over to inform me the flight had been fully booked! WTF, why can't this clerk inform me before I made the payment!? Since I had already paid up, I have no choice but to change my trip to another day.
Ok, the trip is supposed to take place early next week... but they said they will let us know the confirmation tmr. What!? You mean the trip is still UNCONFIRMED!?
This is absurd! But I have to admit that they offer one of the cheapest package around. There's this saying "you get what you pay"...

I totally agree with all those who have contributed to warn others from going to this agency. DO NOT GO TO THIS AGENCY.

Let me share my experience.

Firstly, almost all their staffs in the agency are very unprofessional and not equipped to answer ANY questions. They cannot tell you exactly what is the itinery that you are going for. When asked why the same tour has different itineries printed on different copies, they said it is the same and you can keep whichever you prefer. (This is weird because you and your friend can take different schedules, sign up for the same tour, but because you take different copies of itinery, you can expect different things... FROM THE SAME TOUR!! How is this possible?)

Then when we finally decided to sign up, the agent made many mistakes filling up the invoice and are not sure about necessary passport details. The agent was not even sure when we asked about validity of the passport of males who have to attend NS.

Subsequently, halfway through processing the transaction, another agent appeared from nowhere and glanced at our transaction. Suddenly, this agent said that one of us is a child and have to pay extra $150. We were stunned because the "child" that he was referring to is 14 years old. We questioned that a child should even be cheaper, how can they charge extra? what is this cost about? They simply answered that a child has no purchasing power and have to pay extra $150. Then, he also added that this 'child' has no purchasing power and should not be allocated any bed space by right. (When we are paying full adult charges for this "child") He further added that if we do not want to pay this extra $150, the "child" can sleep in the same room with no extra beds provided, which means 3 people in a twin room which is meant for 2 to stay!

We were booking for 4, hence, we just asked since there are 4 of us, we cannot do 3 in one room as there will be 1 left out and has to pay single price.

The agent agreed and replied that all will pay the same adult price and sleep 4 to a twin room with ONE additional bed!

This is totally absurd!

1. Anyone above the age of 12 is considered as an adult, yet they insist that 18 is the cut-off age for adults.

2. A child should be cheaper than adult, yet that they want to charge extra! (By calling an adult a child somemore)

3. They demanded extra charges for a child due to the fact that they have no purchasing power! (I do not think this is valid at all!)

4. 4 persons paying for 4 adult full price for twin share room has to squeeze into a twin room with an additional bed, meant for 3!

I am totally disgusted!

My wife & I were in the same tour as Anne - Tibet-Qinghai tour in Sept 2007. There were 25 of us mainly senior citizens, there was no local tour guide...This is the worst nightmare in my years of regular visits to China....Feel like a lost sheep; waiting to be hunted and slaughtered for not vomitted enough money to pleased the local tour guide & driver..Driver shut engine and stopped air conditon that will suffocate S'pore travellers. Need to unite as a group to fight for survival...

Join this agency at YOUR OWN RISK. Recently, joined their Tibet-Qinghai tour in Sept 2007. Although there were 25 of us, there was no tour leader or Chinese 'quan pei'. The itinerary did not include optional performance show in Chengdu. However, when we were in Chengdu, this optional show was literally forced down our throat! For those who refused to watch this show had to wander the streets for 2 hours! The driver even refused to unload our luggage from the bus when we reached the hotel!

Please do not go to this agency. The tour packages that they offer differ from the actual itinerary. For eg they promised 4-star hotel, but in the end it is 2-star, and they blame it on the overseas travel agency.
